the spatial narrative — one room, fully composed
a hotel room designed by w+n tells a story about the city it's in. an omni louisville guestroom carries the weight of bourbon and horse country and the ohio river. a la playa beach suite carries salt air and the recollection of a coastline. every material, every piece, every sight line is part of a single narrative.
the spatial narrative is that same thinking, applied to one room in your home.
the process: a 60-minute discovery session where you talk about the room — not about furniture, but about how you want to feel in it, what you want to happen there, what memories belong to it. then a w+n designer develops a spatial narrative document — not a furniture list, not a floor plan, but a written and visual story for the room.
it includes:
- the narrative statement (the story the room tells)
- the material language (what textures, colors, and finishes carry the story)
- the furniture direction (types of pieces, not specific models — the what and the why, not the SKU)
- a sensory brief (what the room should feel like, sound like, smell like)
delivered as a 16-page digital document. this is the first step in every w+n project — before a single piece of furniture is selected. it is now available as a standalone service. for the person who wants their room to mean something.
